1993
Falcon-Software Company was founded in the spring of 1993 in a small bachelor suite apartment by Gary Eisenstein, the current President, and partner Paul Doherty. They began developing proprietary software for the wire and cable industry with $9,000.00 start-up capital.
1994
Shortly after the release of Falcon's first software product - CableSmart in early 1994, they moved into new offices located in downtown Victoria and hired their first full-time employee.
1995
In addition to the CableSmart software product line, Falcon-Software started designing and developing diskette catalogs in 1995 for a niche market – B2B product manufacturers and distributors. Over the next twelve months, Falcon's client list grew dramatically, transforming Falcon into the electronic catalog software company of choice for distributors and manufacturers across North America.
1996
In the Summer of 1996, Falcon designed and developed their very first Internet website for a New York manufacturer that featured an online catalog with advanced searching capabilities, something unique for websites in 1996.
1997
As Falcon-Software became better known throughout the B2B industry as the company of choice for corporate web development, Falcon secured their very first high profile client – Hitachi/USA. Later that same year, Falcon shuts down the CableSmart software product, dedicating 100% of the company towards the more profitable designing and developing of websites and advanced web-based services.
1998
Falcon-Software moves into a larger facility, allowing for even more expansion, hiring the brightest team of programmers, graphic designers, technical experts, project managers and sales staff the local tech industry had to offer. In addition, Falcon launches an aggressive e-commerce strategy, supplying B2B online ordering solutions for its ever-growing list of global clientele.
1999
Falcon-Software continued to push the envelope by redefining the standards for professional web development by adding multimedia to its list of services with streaming audio using professional broadcast voiceovers and Flash animation for client e-marketing campaigns. In the last fiscal quarter, Falcon's performance generated record revenues heading into the new year.
2000
Falcon-Software achieved unsurpassed results in the new millennium by adding new talent to the graphics team and acquired an additional 2,000 square feet of office space for the expansion of the production facility. The most exciting project of 2000 was the New York art gallery account, utilizing web technology to showcase fine 19th century artwork from world-renowned artists. Falcon broke all previous records for revenue and profitability in 2000.
2001
Falcon-Software made significant advances into the healthcare industry, developing several new corporate websites for some of the top medical product organizations in North America. Falcon also opened up an additional office for the expansion of its multimedia services. Despite the downward turn in the US economy and the horrific September 11th tragedy, Falcon remained financially stable and even managed some positive growth in certain areas of the business.
2002
Falcon-Software launches the Falcon Community Involvement Program (FCIP Group), which selects local, national and international non-profit organizations and donates resources to help them build a stronger website presence. The first organization selected in 2002 was the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Association and the Hands on Summer Camp for children with disabilities.
2003
Falcon-Software develops an e-commerce system for high profile client Danaher, which was voted 77th among the top 100 e-commerce sites in North America by BtoB Magazine along side with American Express, Dell Computers and Office Depot.
2004
Falcon-Software had a very exciting year in 2004, landing two large e-marketing contracts with ski resort giant Intrawest and global travel specialist Virtuoso. Falcon was also presented with the 2004 VIATeC Technology Award in June, for e-commerce Website of the Year. The company was also awarded the honor of designing and developing a tourism website for Africa’s Northern Mozambique with United States Agency - USAID. Falcon also won its largest single website contract to date worth in excess of $200,000/USD.
2005
Falcon-Software celebrates its 12th anniversary, a rare achievement in the turbulent high-tech industry. Paul Doherty, one of Falcon's original founders is bought out by Gary Eisenstein, and immediately Eisenstein takes the company in a new direction offering advanced web content management solutions. Falcon relocates its production facility to Oak Bay and a satellite sales office in Seattle Washington.
2006
After acquiring additional office space in Oak Bay for Falcon’s programming staff, Falcon revamped its entire production processes to better handle the increased size of web development projects being produced. Also, Falcon managed to garner some recognition from the technology industry by being selected as finalists in three different categories for the 2006 VIATeC Technology Awards and winning the Website/Online Strategy of the Year award for our work on the Mozambique tourism website. In addition, Falcon also achieved Partner of the Month honors in June from CMS partner Ektron, becoming an Ektron Certified Gold Member, one of only two companies with that distinction in Canada at the time.
2007
Falcon-Software started the year on a very positive note by being awarded Ektron's Partner of the Year, selected from over 200 Ektron's certified web design and development systems integrators across the globe. Falcon also sponsored the 2007 VIATeC 4th Annual Golf Tournament held at one of the most exciting golf courses on the West Coast - Bear Mountain Golf Resort. Falcon closed out the year by landing the largest single account close to date with New York healthcare giant Carestream Health, worth over a quarter-million in CMS deployment and migration production work.
2008
Falcon-Software started off the year closing two substantial CMS Intranet contracts with one of the largest RV rental companies in Canada, Canadream and BC Transit, a provincial crown agency. Later that year Falcon also secured a contract with The Forzani Group, one of Canada's largest national sporting goods retailers, for a CMS driven, social networking Intranet solution. With the economic slowdown being forecasted to carry over into most of 2009, Falcon had to implement sweeping cuts in all facets of the business, which included a partnership with European CMS vendor Kentico, a content management software solution that competes with some of the top North American CMS vendors, but at a far lower price. This enabled Falcon to be far more competitive and in tight market conditions this gave Falcon a clear advantage in closing more CMS contracts. By the end of the year, Falcon-Software was a certified developer for the top .NET CMS vendor’s Ektron, Kentico, Sitecore and Sitefinity, becoming the experts in .NET CMS deployment.
2009
Falcon-Software became the only Kentico CMS training facility in all of North America offering training services for administrators and developers for the popular CMS software. Mid-year, Falcon was awarded two large Sitecore CMS contracts from LaSalle College International, which included implementation and globalization services for 14 campuses worldwide, and Falcon’s largest single CMS contract to date with Remington Arms, one of the oldest gun manufacturers in the world. In addition, Falcon-Software was approached in June by a large IT firm in Denmark for a merger and acquisition and Gary Eisenstein entered into a letter of intent to sell the company in July. But by late October, Eisenstein canceled the LOI citing a difference in direction the company was being taken. In December, Falcon moved its Oak Bay production facility to Langford’s Westshore and hired new staff, helping to assure that production capacity does not reach critical levels as were experienced throughout most of 2009.
