Mozambique, Africa - Victoria company helps economy.

A local Victoria company has received recognition for their philanthropist venture to Mozambique, Africa. Falcon-Software Company, Inc. was awarded VIATeC’s “Website/Online Strategy of the Year” distinction for their website created to bring international awareness to Africa’s poverty stricken nation, Mozambique.

The dire needs of Internet representation were brought to the attention of Falcon-Software’s community involvement group “FCIP” by TechnoServe. A non-profit internationally recognized organization; TechnoServe was founded in 1968 to help establish enterprising industries in the third world countries. The organization’s initiative in Mozambique, “Mozlink”, was to create international business mentorship in affluent business sectors such as tourism. An extensive and engaging website was urgently needed to reach-out and introduce the world to this unique country.

To assist in this initiative and broaden their understanding of Mozambique’s critical need to promote tourism within the country, two of Falcon-Software’s employees traveled to the civil-war-torn country to meet and talk with struggling hoteliers and tourism operators. Their gathered information would assist in the development of an interactive website that would represent the deep-rooted culture and extensive history of the country.

The goal the website was to introduce the colorful history and traditions of Mozambique, to show a unique tourist destination, include itinerary suggestions and up-to-date travel information. Furthermore the website would supply much needed details on the country’s safety, consequently dispelling unnecessary and outdated fears for foreign travelers.

The Northern Mozambique website, www.northern-mozambique.com, was launched in May 2006 and has been a key tool in the increased tourism traffic to Mozambique. “Mozambique is a truly underutilized tourist destination and one of the world’s last unspoiled wildernesses.” states Elizabeth Fox, Project Manager of the Northern Mozambique website. “This user-friendly but in-depth site is the total package: quality and presentation of information, ease of navigation, design, interactivity, content management and many extras.
