Favicons
Looking for a way to subtly increase your brand presence? A favicon may be what you are looking for. Favicons, or "Favorites Icons", are the small brand logos that are used by browsers to identify your website. Instead of the default IE logo or Firefox generic paper icon, the favicon can be customized with your a modified version of your own logo.
Favicons are an increasingly popular way to reinforce your brand presence. With a customized favicon, your company's logo will appear in the browser’s toolbar next to the URL. When someone bookmarks your site, this logo is also used as the icon next to the bookmark name. For IE7 and Firefox, the favicons are even more visible – as a visual reminder of which website is open on a particular tab.
What is involved? We simply create a 16x16 pixel graphic of your brand logo with the .ico file format. Then we add some code to the head of the key pages on your website so that the browser will recognize and utilize this customized icon instead of the browser's default.
