CMS: Content Management

What's a Content Management System?
A Content Management System (CMS) allows people to update their own content on a website. This is important because it gets the task done without touching many hands - that means getting it done quickly and cheaply.

But don't people have to know HTML to do that?
They used to, but CMS systems have improved to the point where someone who knows how to use Microsoft Word can update the content now.

How does it work?
You go to your website, login and then browse your website. The pieces of content that you can change are highlighted and you just have to click on it to edit the content. No HTML editor, no FTP, no problem.

Does that mean that I can't approve what changes get made?
Not necessarily. You can setup a chain of approvals for changes if you want, just like an editor of a newspaper checks the reporters work before publishing.

So where does Falcon fit in?
You'll still use us for the professional architecture and design of your site, programming and eCommerce that Content Management Systems can't address.

How much does it cost?
You need a License ($7000 per dot com) and then the cost to transfer the content from your old site into the new one which depends of course of the amount of content on your site.

How does THAT save me money?
It saves you money every time you update your website. Over time, that can add up to big savings.
Most larger companies are using CMS now. It is only a matter of time until the economics of it work for smaller companies as well. If you can't afford to do this today, you should at least remember it for your next website redesign.
