Falcon Is Updating Our Servers...
We are upgrading our Website servers over the next two months. If you host your website with us, we will be contacting you shortly with details. We are taking this opportunity to keep pace and make our network and your website more secure.
Our websites currently run on the Windows 2000 operating system. As the name implies, it's a five year old version of Windows. While that means we know all of the in-outs and quirks of this product, it has also given hackers five years to learn about exploits and limitations. The good news is that Microsoft took what they learned from Windows 2000 and applied that knowledge to Windows 2003 Server. It's a stricter and sturdier environment from the standpoint of security. Should we deploy new third-party applications, they are more likely to embrace the Windows 2003 architecture than Windows 2000. Best of all, Windows 2003 Server is fully .NET capable. As we discuss in a related article, ASP.NET promises to deliver better results that the older ASP environment.
To make the change, we need to address two areas of note for security: ASP code and "include" files
in .htm pages. Another open door that we can shut comes from "form to email" pages. If you have any of these in your website that are not being used securely, they will require updating to work with the new server environment.
Don't worry!
Falcon will analyze your website before the upgrade and notify you of any areas that require attention. Our migration plan includes recoding critcal pages, moving the updated sites to the new environment, and testing of the site prior to the "move" of your website.
