The Great Falcon Website Migration of 2005
 Falcon-Software has spent the last six months transferring our hosted clients’ websites to a new server setup. Migration of the websites is now complete, and all of us at Falcon-Software would like to take this time to thank our clients for their ongoing patience and understanding.
We have performed this server upgrade, to more modern hardware and software packages, in order to improve our hosting services. We found that it was time to upgrade to more modern hardware and software packages in order to sustain advancements in technical requirements and web-enabled solutions. Now that we have our new hosting platform fully operational, we are
able to offer a far superior hosting package to our clients.
First and foremost, we now employ Windows Server 2003. This, combined with more modern server software, allows us to provide a more secure and stable hosting platform than ever before. Our server also supports the latest version of Microsoft's ASP.NET framework, allowing us to utilize the very latest in web application development technology.
The new hosting platform utilizes SmarterMail, a recently developed software package to manage and serve our clients' email. This new software has a much more streamlined user interface than our previous system. SmarterMail also includes built-in spam and virus filtering to help keep unwanted messages from ending up in users’ mailboxes. Falcon-Software’s new mail system also incorporates a more powerful administration system, allowing our technical staff to respond quickly and efficiently to any issues that arise.
Falcon-Software’s new web server is located in one of only five IBM certified (soon to be Microsoft certified) datacenters in North America. The building is a high-security facility and is designed to withstand natural disasters. The datacenter is powered by three separate power grids, backed-up by a diesel generator so that the servers will continue to operate even in the case of widespread power outage. The facility’s network is connected to the Internet by multiple carrier networks through high-speed transmission wiring.
In short, Falcon-Software is now far better equipped to meet the needs of our clients now and into the future.
