Tech Tips: Using Webmail

Sometimes it's useful to be able to view your email through a browser.
The two most common times are:

1. When you're away from your computer, and
2. When you have a problem downloading a large email attachment.

How to view your email using a Browser

  • Open a browser and go to your company website. Eg: www.yourcompany.com
  • Replace the "www" with "webmail" like this: http://webmail.yourcompany.com
  • Enter your account - Eg: "yourmail@yourcompany.com" and your password.
  • Click "login" and...you're there.

You can send emails as well as receive them. Remember though, that since you're not using your regular mail client program like Outlook, you won't have a copy of the sent email in your Outlook sent mail folder. (though you could CC yourself for later).

Also remember that any emails that you delete here won't get downloaded to your Outlook. This can be great when you have a large email that it taking forever to download. You can logon to the webmail, delete the large email, logoff and then go back to your Outlook and continue downloading your mail.
